The whole point why we decided on a modular GDML system is that you
can take only the GDML component you want to study, run simulations on
only that component, add detail to that component, and then
reintegrate the detailed/modified model back into the main simulation.

If you start implementing geometry as C++ code (the 'old' way), you
are going to create more work down the line for whoever will have to
reimplement the main detectors based on your code, possibly after you
have left the experiment.  Saying that your work should not be merged
into trunk is logically equivalent as saying that this will not lead
to any design we will adopt for the experiment.

Please don't move anything to a local svn server.  It is great that
you are using the JLab svn server to do this development.  That
ensures that it won't ever get lost.
