  ROOT 5 fails on this fix, so place version guards

If the LLVM issue occured on ROOT 5 at all, no guarantees are made
about it being fixed. Keep using the workaround:
```
setenv LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT 1
```

  ROOT 5 fails on this fix, so place version guards

In ROOT 5 TF1 does not have an option to avoid placing the function
in a global list for later lookup. Multithreading with the pion
generator will likely remain broken. Please use -t 1 to only use a
single thread.
