Dear All:
Shift sign-up page for both A1n and d2n experiments is finally available, please see:
https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/physics/shiftSchedule/?experimentRunId=HALLC-POL3HE
(and the link to the sign up page at the top). A few notes:
(1) the read-only page has a few formatting issues, such as RC table not listed at the correct place. We are aware of this (minor) problem and are working with the computer center to fix it;
(2) The run will start on Nov. 25 and end May 6th, with a break for X'mas shutdown+restore and a one-week long period for target rotation. You will see these "break" days showing as "no shift". As usual, the start of run, beam restore, and (for this run period) the target rotation time are subject to possible/unexpected delays and scheduling (run planning) changes, and we suggest those who need to travel long distance and/or with tight travel budget to avoid signing up for shifts around these time windows, i.e. end of November, beginning of January, and mid February.
(3) As you will see, all shifts have only two slots: a shift leader and a target operator for the polarized 3He target. TO training sessions will be scheduled after the target is operational in the hall and before the experiment starts. We will announce TO training sessions to the Hall C mailing list later. For questions, please contact J.P. Chen, jpchen at jlab.org
(4) In an effort to ensure the critical SL and TO shifts are filled first, we are not accepting sign-ups for the "3rd" shift position at this time. However, (new) students are welcome to participate as an "unofficial" 3rd person to watch and learn. In general, all new and/or inexperienced personnel are expected to "shadow" an earlier shift to learn the ropes prior to their first shift as well.
(5) The collaboration is requesting 18 'shift credits' for authorship on all papers for the two experiments, or 12 credits for authorship for a single experiment. [Day = 1 credit; Swing = 1.5 credits; Owl = 2 credits.] Service as an RC for one week also satisfies authorship requirements for both experiments. At the discretion of the spokespeople, collaborators who have made a significant contribution to the experiments but not fulfilled the shift requirement will also be qualified for authorship.
Looking forward to some sign-ups!
Xiaochao
