The development of a RF harmonic kicker cavity

ABSTRACT
A RF harmonic kicker cavity is a device that transits the electron beam in/out of the circulator cooling ring (CCR) of the Jefferson Lab Electron-Ion Collider (JLEIC) in ultra-fast time scale. Although the JLEIC eventually fell through, a harmonic kicker can find applications elsewhere with its flexible deflecting capabilities for a beam with a general time structure.
We will present some crucial aspects of the development of the kicker, including baseline beam dynamics, the RF design of the hardware followed by mechanical design and fabrication status, and impedance study.
