Spin Transparency Method for Spin Control of Hadron Beams in Colliders

Abstract
The spin transparency (ST) technique has been proposed as an efficient, highly flexible method to control the beam polarization in synchrotrons, from acceleration to long-term maintenance and real-time spin manipulation during an experimental run. The spin transparency is attained when the net rotation angle of a particle spin is zero in one turn around the ring. This requires a certain configuration of the synchrotron such as a figure 8 or a racetrack with two identical Siberian snakes. The attractiveness of the ST method is that it allows one to manipulate the polarization of any ions including deuterons using only small integrals of stationary or quasi-static magnetic fields.
