Dr Kelley,

I wanted to let you know that  I was in a bicycle accident this weekend in which I fell and broke my arm. Unfortunately, I hit a crosswalk dip on the sidewalk that I did not see very well and was ejected from my seat. The break will require surgery though the date is unclear. I will let you know as I know more.

I went into the lab today and I can still run samples and perform most duties, I just may have to ask for help to load samples, which I can supervise.

This week while healing, I plan to work mostly on writing the last paper. That way I can take breaks as needed to ice my arm.

My face is also pretty scuffed up. It is for this reason I am requesting that we postpone my talk at JLab, as well as the now increased difficulty to prepare it adequately. As it would likely be my last talk, I would like the opportunity to look and perform at my highest potential.

I would be happy to discuss further as well. I plan to email the group, but I wanted to talk to you first.
