Redhat is moving away from the way we currently ensure onsite Linux systems get subscriptions to a new way, called Simple Content Access (SCA).  The only real change here is that, instead of subscriptions being applied from the Content View or via the Linux build, systems get access to any subscriptions the install believes it might need.  The basic result is that systems may get Server subscriptions instead of Workstation subscriptions during the install process, but that is not clear.  From what I understand, there really isn't any other consequences.  I've also asked Redhat and there really isn't any way to test this.  And, since the next iteration of Satellite is likely to not support our current process, we really need to move to SCA soon.

The upside to all of this is that I don't have to make sure our subscriptions are renewed and added to Satellite ASAP on the day they expire.

Finally, Redhat uses insights to monitor the number of subscriptions being used vie subscription-watch.  So, as you build systems, please ensure that insights is started and runs (insights-client --register).

I need to enable SCA on Satellite soon so that we can work out any issues prior to the subscription renewal in late October.  I'm planning to do this either later today or tomorrow.

According to Redhat, this shouldn't cause any issues whatsoever.  I'm hopeful this will be true, but we'll have to see and work out any issues.
