[ace] snapshots?

Thank you, Adam!

It is working fine for me. (Unfortunately, the version of the file I wanted to retrieve came into being during the gap in snapshot server running. I believe I can recreate the file, so it is fine. Checking if it is on a tape back up and restoring it are not necessary.)

I brought the snapshot server back online over the weekend. I am out of the office this morning, but please email me if you notice any problems.

Thanks,
Adam

This is not urgent. Monday is plenty soon enough.

Thank you to everyone for jumping on this.

Hi Alicia,

If this turns out to be a larger problem, can it wait until Monday, or is it pretty urgent?

Thanks,

Gary

Alicia,

The snapshot file server has experienced a problem that I am looking into now. I'll let you know when things are recovered.

Subject: snapshots?

Hi Gary and Anthony,

I am not sure if this is a software on-call question or not... I have cc-ed Chris because he is listed as software on-call for Day.

I am trying to look at the snapshots directory to possibly retrieve I file I botched up, but when I try to access it, I get [111] hofler at devl68 > pwd /a/devuser [112] hofler at devl68 > ls -lt snapshots lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 10 Aug 18 2007 snapshots -> /s/devuser [113] hofler at devl68 > cd snapshots
snapshots: No such file or directory.
[114] hofler at devl68 > uname -a
Linux devl68 3.10.0-1160.105.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Nov 6 06:58:51 EST 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux For the ls, the text to the left of the arrow is red in a black box and to the right is blinking white in a black box.

I tried opls00 and opl06 and get similar behavior.

Is something wrong with the snapshots mechanism? Or is it not longer supported?

Thank you.
