Subject: Cisco removed their Clientless VPN web portal

Hey guys -

Just wanted to give you a heads up on this one. We're getting ready to do a VPN code upgrade on maintenance day and that will remove access to the Clientless web portal. Here's the message that will be running in the weekly briefs:

Cisco Browser-based VPN Web Portal Discontinued
Cisco has removed the browser-based, clientless VPN web portal feature from their latest software releases. On our next maintenance day, May 20, we will be upgrading our VPN servers, and the web portal functionality will no longer be accessible. This means that you will not be able to visit the web portal URL (https://vpn.jlab.org) from a browser to access internal web pages. However, this does NOT affect access to the JLab VPN through the Cisco Secure (AnyConnect) client, which is how most JLab staff access the VPN. Alternatives to the clientless web portal include the Cisco Secure AnyConnect client or the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). For additional information or assistance, please contact the CST Division Helpdesk at x7155 or via email at helpdesk at jlab.org.

I don't think many people use this feature of the VPN - so hopefully we won't get a lot of calls about it...

-Brent
