[ace] Vacation use

Ace team,

I concur with Gary's position on vacation use before the potential furlough. Please add any to your calendar as you make the decision and add me.

Let's continue to complete tasks as we have been. As we move through the next few weeks let's also take a moment to consider if a pending task could have a negative impact on min-safe operations. For example, deploying, upgrading, or altering services/systems. A new RHEL9 workstation or an upgrade of one is no big deal. But something like an overhaul of a logging or alerting system could become a problem if not completed in-time or spending enough time in "dev is prod".

[If you don't know the mechanism to send an invite as 'Free' that is fine. Just send it so it blocks it out for you, and I will edit the event on my end.]

Regards,
Erik

Subject: [acg] Vacation use

All,

Based on a question Kyle asked, I'd like to share my thoughts on the use of vacation before furlough. In my opinion, navigating this situation in the best way possible for everyone is of higher importance than working on projects. We can take a cue from the director's priorities:

  1. Safety

  1. Well-being of staff

  1. Mission delivery

If it suits you to use vacation in the next two weeks, either because you would be at risk of losing it at the end of the year, or you just need some downtime, I encourage you to do so (although please check with your supervisor if that isn't me!). Schedules are slipping anyway. If you do plan to take vacation, please put it on your calendar.

Thanks,

Gary
