Hi Max,

>From what I recall, iocin9 was used for Peppo, and the crate contains a number of Jlab homebrew I/O boards. I can't remember if it has been actively used since.

ACS folks:- is anyone aware of an ongoing use for iocin9? Was it intended to be used for 5D in any capacity?

Thanks,

Gary

Subject: Does this VME crate do anything useful?

Hi Gary,

While planning for a VME crate upgrade, we found that the crate housing iocin9, at the top of rack IN02B21 in the injector service building, has no obvious purpose other than to communicate with a high-voltage module (not sure if the connection is ethernet or serial). The i/o modules in this crate are connected to a break-out panel with nothing connected to it. This seems like a waste of good hardware, and the crate will also be in the way when we start working on the hardware underneath. We were wondering if it would be convenient and raesonable to remove the crate and migrate the (presumably minor) function it performs to someplace else. Is there an easy way for your group to assess this?

Thanks,
Max
