FYI. I wanted to discuss trying to do something similar here once Ian got
back, but venue less important than a properly-focused workshop. Just
passing this along so you'll be aware. Presumably in response to broad PAC
request for guidance on how to proceed with understanding the EMC effect
and EMC-SRC connection, although it's not totally clear from the email.
Best,
John

*Subject:* SRC workshop @ MIT ??
Dear Friends,
In light of recent progress in both experimental and theoretical studies of
SRC, EMC etc., we’ve been thinking that it’s time to have a dedicated
workshop on ‘quantitative challenges in SRC research’. It seems like there
are a lot of open questions in confronting theory vs. experiment and future
research directions that we can address in a dedicated week long workshop.
Larry has some funds from the data-mining initiative and it seems like we
should be able to come up with supplemental funds that will allow us to
offer reasonable support for ~30 people.
As a core group of potential participants, can you let me know of your
availability to come to MIT for such a meeting on the first week of
December (i.e. Nov. 28 - Dec. 2)?
Thanks
Or.
(I’m sure I left many relevant people out, please forgive me - this is a
very preliminary mail just to see if it’s reasonable to push forward with
this)
