Dr. Blazey, who is also a professor at Northern Illinois University and director of the Northern Illinois Center for Accelerator and Detector Development, will discuss the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the mechanisms by which OSTP influences science policy.

A former spokesman for the DZero Experiment at Fermi Lab, Dr. Blazey's talk will include a discussion of the national investment in research and development in the context of international investments.

In addition to talking in general about OSTP and its Division of Science, he will discuss the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) - two OSTP-managed entities.
