_*Update from recent heavy rains at Jefferson Lab*_

A preliminary assessment of the damage resulting from recent rain storms 
(late August) has been completed, and the total damages resulting from 
the flooding could exceed $300,000.

Flooding in Hall A reached 2 inches, while Hall B had 7 inches, Hall C 
30 inches and Hall D 2 inches.

The accelerator tunnel and FEL vault were not flooded.

The flooding was the result of very heavy rain storms and a regional 
drainage system that has not kept pace with growth in the area.

Jefferson Lab is holding an after-action review this week and will 
investigate alternate solutions to prevent future flooding, including 
options more effective and easier to install than flood gates.
