_Emergency Patch for Java_
A serious vulnerability in all versions of Java 7 is currently being
exploited. The vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary
code on computer systems. This vulnerability is specific to Java 7 and
impacts all operating systems and web browsers. To resolve this problem,
Jefferson Lab's CNI group will send out the latest JAVA 7 patch tonight
to all Computer Center-managed Windows systems. If you work on one of
these systems, please close all your web browsers (i.e. Mozilla
Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.) at the end of your workday today. Then
log out of the your system, so that the patch can be installed.
If you experience any difficulties with your computer in the morning
(Tuesday, June 25), reboot to see if that fixes the problem before
calling the Helpdesk (x7155) for assistance.
