Following are two items of possible interest to members of the Jefferson 
Lab community:


*TEDx Talks Stream to CEBAF Center Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 24;

*Got 18 Minutes? Catch a TEDx talk on Wednesday, in the CEBAF Center 
Auditorium*

Jefferson Lab will stream the TEDxCERN <http://tedxcern.web.cern.ch/> 
2014 event on the big screen in the CEBAF Center auditorium tomorrow 
(Wednesday, Sept. 24), from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. EDT. All members of 
the lab community – staff, students, users and subcontractors – are 
invited to attend all or any part of the event.

TED talks are brief conversations – each lasting 18 minutes or less – 
that bring together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment 
and Design. The theme for TEDxCERN 2014 is “Forward: Charting the future 
with science,” and speakers will be sharing their views on the big ideas 
in science. The talks fall into three broad categories: Adapt, Change 
and Create and include a range of topics, including some that may be of 
interest to the lab community.

*Jefferson Lab Holds Open House for New Fitness Center on Oct. 6; 
Facility to Open for Use on Oct. 7*

Lab staff and users: Perhaps you’ve seen the Fitness sign on the door to 
Room 2558 in the Technology and Engineering Development (TED) Building 
(Bldg. 55). Exercise equipment – strength and cardio – has been 
installed and other features are being added. An open house of the new 
facility is planned for Oct. 6 from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Stop by to find out 
how you might use this new amenity.


The room will open for use on Oct. 7. Come to the Fitness Room open 
house on Sept. 29 to learn more about this great new lab amenity.
