A trojaned version of Putty for Windows has been circulating on the
Internet that delivers more than the user expects. Putty is one of the
most popular SSH clients for Windows and the Jefferson Lab Computer
Center provides a version of it for all CUEified (Common User
Environment) installations. The malicious Putty executable, once
installed, silently steals the credentials of the user, sending them
offsite to an unknown party.

As a general reminder, software installed on all JLab computers should
be acquired from the Computer Center or a known safe source.

If you have any questions, please contact the JLab Helpdesk at
helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155.
