IT Maintenance Period Planned for Tuesday , Oct. 20, 5-10 p.m. 
This is a reminder that during the IT Division maintenance period today , the central file server for K, L, M drives (/group, /site, /apps) will be unavailable while it is upgraded to newer hardware. Full access to these areas will be restored by 7 p.m. Note that during the outage, some Linux systems, including the login servers and the general purpose servers (jlabl1-4), may be unresponsive or extremely slow. Please plan your evening work schedule accordingly. 

Other systems will also be affected by the maintenance period. The central MIS applications will be down starting at 8 p.m., while system patches are applied. Firefox, Thunderbird, Flash and Shockwave player will also be updated to new versions. Finally, patches for Windows and Linux systems will be released. This may cause certain system outages while servers are rebooted to finalize the patch installation. Everyone should plan on rebooting his/her desktop system to finalize patch installation no later than Friday , Oct. 23. 


Voicemail Outage Set for Today , Oct. 20, 5-8 p.m. 
During the IT Division Maintenance today , there will also be an outage to the voicemail service. There will be no access to the voicemail system during this time. Please note that this will not affect the normal use of the phone system: You will still be able to make and receive phone calls during the outage, and all current voicemail settings and messages will be preserved. All services will be restored by no later than 8 p.m.
