[All_jlab_accounts] Emergency Response Exercise to Occur on Aug. 9

City of Newport News and Jefferson Lab emergency responders will conduct 
an emergency response training exercise at Jefferson Lab during the 
morning of Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016.

Emergency-response vehicles and personnel will respond to a simulated 
scenario, which is being planned to take place on the Accelerator Site. 
If you aren’t part of the exercise, please stay out of the way of 
emergency responders, their vehicles and equipment.

Don’t be alarmed by the presence of emergency-response vehicles, 
specialized equipment and uniformed first responders. Please use caution 
while driving on lab roads, especially Rattley Road, Hadron Drive and 
CEBAF Boulevard while the training exercise is underway.

If anyone asks you about the exercise or what is going on, please 
respond that Jefferson Lab is participating in an emergency response 
EXERCISE that includes participation by uniformed or vested Newport News 
emergency responders and their vehicles.

All activities you see and hear during the exercise are meant to 
SIMULATE a real emergency response situation. Exercise officials – 
wearing yellow or orange vests – will control and moderate the exercise 
scenario. If asked to participate, please try to stay calm and respond 
to the exercise as if the situation were real. Specific buildings 
involved in the exercise scenario may be temporarily inaccessible.

Should an actual emergency occur during the exercise, the exercise will 
be terminated, so that lab staff can respond to the actual event.
