Sent on behalf of the IT Division
The security certificate that identifies one of JLab’s email servers (mail.jlab.org) will be changed early Wednesday morning at around 6 a.m. This certificate is used to identify the server and allow you to establish secure (encrypted) connections to it. The change of certificates is not expected to be noticeable or cause any disruptions in service.
Historically, such certificates were provided by Symantec/Verisign. The new certificate is issued by a new vendor (Network Solutions). The new vendor's certificates are pre-trusted by nearly all email clients and web browsers, just like those from the previous vendor. Therefore, this change is not expected to be noticeable or negatively impact anyone. You can find the identifying information allowing you to confirm the validity of the new certificate here: https://cc.jlab.org/newmailcert
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155.
