David Richards to be Acting Director of Theory Center

As of September 1, David Richards will become the Acting Director of  
the Theory Center.
As was announced some time ago, Tony Thomas is leaving to return to  
Adelaide. A Search Committee has been formed to seek a new director of  
the Theory Center.  George Sterman of the C.N. Yang Center at S.U.N.Y.  
Stony Brook is the chair of the committee, and while they are very  
active, they will need some time to complete their important work.
This year, 2009, is the year we submit the laboratory’s proposal for  
support of the Theory Center and its activities to DOE for the next  
four years. David led the group in the preparation of the proposal,  
which was submitted on time by the end of July. The proposal will be  
presented to a Peer Review in mid-September.  Please give David any  
support he needs to do well in this endeavor and, indeed, in guiding  
the Theory Center.
