Many JLab users received an e-mail message early today that indicated problems with their e-mail account and asking that they provide their user name and password in a reply message.
*The subject of the message was:** Dear jlab.org User
And the sender was: HelpDesk Service*
This of course was a 'phishing' message looking for login credentials.
If there was doubt in anyone's mind about the lack of authenticity of the message, the request for password information is the key. Jefferson Lab Helpdesk, System Support, and Security personnel will never ask for your password. They do not need it to do their jobs.
Thanks to the many people who reported this phishing attack.
/This message is being sent on behalf of JLab's Information Technology Division./
Thank you and Regards,
Deb Magaldi
