/Message from Hugh Montgomery:/

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Cynthia "Thia" Keppel has 
been selected to serve as the next Group Leader for Hall A.

Thia is well known to many of you, holding a dual appointment at 
Jefferson Lab as a staff scientist and as a professor at Hampton University.

Many of you may also recall that just last year, Thia was named the 
winner of the 2011 Virginia Outstanding Scientist Award. One of the many 
awards she has won her career.

Needless to say, we are very pleased that Thia has agreed to join the 
lab full time. She's an outstanding scientist, teacher and leader, 
qualities that were key in our worldwide search.


Thia will begin her duties on July 1.

In the meantime, please join me in congratulating her on her new assignment.

At this time, I also would like to thank Bob Michaels, who has served as 
Hall A Group Leader since March 2011. His work and leadership is much 
appreciated.

Also, I want to thank the search committee, chaired by Bob McKeown and 
Don Geesaman. They did an outstanding job in seeking out and finding the 
best possible person to lead Hall A.
