In the past two weeks, there has been an increase in phishing attempts.
Since additional filters have been put in place, the IT Division has
blocked more than 8000 phishing attempts. However, several JLab
computer account holders have submitted their credentials. This has
given the hackers access to internal resources such as Zimbra and
webmail. From there, more phishing attempts succeeded before accounts
were suspended and passwords changed.
We appreciate your patience as we work through this issue to better
protect JLab. Please remain diligent and do not click on unknown links
and submit your JLab credentials. Your JLab credentials should never be
submitted to non-JLab sites.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding an email message,
contact the IT Division Help Desk (757-268-7155 or helpdesk at jlab.org).
For more obvious phishing attempts, please forward the message to
spam at jlab.org.
