Dear Colleagues:
At Jefferson Science Associates, we value our employees and are committed to providing you and your family with affordable, substantial health benefits that meet the requirements of “minimum essential coverage” under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The ACA requires most Americans to maintain health insurance. This is a reminder that the ACA regulation requires JSA to provide you supporting documentation about your health insurance coverage for the 2016 tax year. You may have already or will soon receive an ACA Form 1095-C from JSA as proof of the health coverage we offered you and your family in 2016. It contains information about who provides the health insurance, as well as other information about the health coverage that was offered to you.
If you are covered under our medical insurance plan, you will also receive a 1095-B form from your carrier, either Anthem or Optima. This form will list you and any of your family members that are covered under the plan.
You do NOT need to wait to receive these forms before you file your 2016 tax return. You can file your tax return for 2016 without them. Once you receive the 1095-C and 1095-B forms, you should keep them with your 2016 tax documents even if you have already filed your taxes. The IRS reserves the right to ask you for these forms in the future.
If you have any questions, please contact Treva Ferguson or Krystina Patrick in the Human Resources Department.
Sincerely,
Treva Ferguson
Benefits Consultant
