A message from the Lab Director 


Dear Colleagues, 

The release of the President’s first budget proposal for FY2018 and subsequent address to Congress is all over the news. So, too, is speculation about what details the full budget will hold and how Congress will resolve the budget in negotiations over the coming months. Please note that these are only the early days of budget discussions, and if history is any guide, Congress will not provide its version of the federal budget until late summer. 

Lab leadership’s focus right now is on this budget year. For FY2017, the laboratory remains under a continuing resolution through April 28. Please continue to choose your purchases wisely and to remain within the budget that has been allocated to your group. In the meantime, lab leadership will provide you with any concrete developments as soon as we are able. 

This is a popular topic in the news right now. As a reminder, please refer any media inquiries on the federal budget process and its impact on the laboratory to the Jefferson Lab Communications Office. 

As we move forward, please know that lab leadership appreciates your hard work and dedication in this time of uncertainty and values your ability to tune out the distractions and focus on completing your work in as safe a manner as possible.
