<div class="ContentPasted0">In accordance with DOE Order 243.1C Records Management, Jefferson Lab will implement an email retention period of seven years, which will impact email in all Jefferson Lab Office 365 email accounts. All email older than seven years
will be deleted beginning Monday, July 17, 2023. </div>

<div class="ContentPasted0">After the email retention is implemented next Monday, Outlook web and Windows desktop users will see a "recovery" link at the top of their Deleted Items folder. This link will allow users to recover system-deleted email under the
seven-year retention and user-deleted email from the deleted items folder for 14 days. After 14 days, these emails will no longer be recoverable.</div>

<div class="ContentPasted0">In the best interest of preserving emails related to the scientific mission of the lab, the retention period of the Archive folder - which exists in all lab o365 email accounts - has an indefinite retention. Emails in the Archive
folder will not be deleted unless deemed necessary by the mailbox owner. </div>

<div class="ContentPasted0">Entire folders of emails can be dragged into the Archive folder for ongoing use. Staff may also use the Archive folder to temporarily hold non-mission critical emails for review prior to managing them; however, the Archive folder
is not intended to keep non-mission-critical emails indefinitely.</div>
