Dear Hall A and APEX Collaborations,

The installation of the A’ Experiment (APEX) will likely start after
Thanksgiving this year, with data taking anticipated around February 2019.
Our test run occurred a long time ago, back in 2010, and we would therefore
like to re-engage and expand our collaboration and update the
collaboration email list.

*Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the APEX
experiment. * This
includes people who can commit time to take shifts, and those groups that
wish to contribute substantively to experiment preparations and data
analysis. We have an exciting run planned, and we hope you will join us!

In particular, we are actively recruiting PhD and Masters students for
APEX. There are several opportunities for graduate students to play key
roles in preparing for the APEX run. These include:

   - testing and commissioning of a SciFi detector used for optics
   calibration,
   - development of SciFi readout using flash ADC,
   - preparation of the SciFi software for optics commissioning,
   - developing DAQ and software for HRS detectors,
   - updating online analysis software for APEX run
   - organizing the coincidence trigger for APEX
   - commissioning of the target and development of target control
   software.

If you have a student, please consider involving them in some of these
preparation projects and in the APEX physics analysis.

Best regards,

Rouven Essig, Philip Schuster, Natalia Toro, Bogdan Wojtsekhowski
for APEX
