<div dir="ltr">Dear Colleagues,<div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div>The JLab Hall A experiment APEX will be carrying out a search for new particles that could mediate dark matter interactions with normal matter, and that are the focus of a broad set of searches at the LHC, B-factories, and other fixed-target facilities. APEX will explore at least an order of magnitude of new coupling territory in the interesting mass range extending below the muon threshold. <br></div><div><br></div><div>We'd like to invite you to get involved in APEX! Help is needed, and there are several projects appropriate for students, both with hardware/software, and with analysis. <br></div><div><br></div><div>As part of the preparations, we will be holding the first of a series of collaboration meetings to bring everyone old and new up to speed on the physics, the experiment, and the preparation plans. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The first meeting is July 24, starting at 1:30pm Eastern time, and will be "virtual" -- i.e. most of us will join remotely. For those of you who are on-site, we have reserved TED 2559. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Please register here: <a href="https://misportal.jlab.org/Ul/conferences/generic_conference/registration.cfm?conference_id=COLLAB-APEX-JUL2018" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://misportal.jlab.org/Ul/<wbr>conferences/generic_conference<wbr>/registration.cfm?conference_i<wbr>d=COLLAB-APEX-JUL2018</a></div><div>(if you are participating remotely, you can answer "N/A" in the 2nd part and registration is free)<br></div><div><br></div><div>The tentative agenda for the meeting is as follows: <br></div><div><br></div><div><div><b>Tuesday July 24</b></div><div>1:30pm - 1:50pm Current Dark Matter theory and motivation for APEX (Natalia Toro)<br>1:50pm - 2:10pm APEX Experimental Overview (Bogdan Wojtsekhowski)<br><div>2:10-2:30 Status of APEX Equipment (Robin Wines)<br></div><div>2:30-2:50 APEX installation schedule (Jessie Butler*)<br></div>3pm - 3:15pm APEX Preparations Plan (Seamus Riordan)<br>3:15pm - 3:45 Discussion of new and old APEX members getting involved<br>3:45-4:05 Online analysis and HRS detectors (<span class="gmail-m_-584251228761529274gmail-il">Florian</span> Hauenstein)<br>4:05pm - 4:25pm Beam commissioning of the HRS+septa optics and SciFi (Vardan Khachatryan*)<br>4:30pm - 4:50pm APEX Target: Status and time line of preparation (Silviu Covrig)<br>4:50pm - 5:30pm Discussion<b><br></b></div><div><b><br></b></div></div><div>We look forward to talking with you!
