Dear BONuSites and friends,
as our BONuSFest draws near, here are a few short announcements:
1) The Fest is planned for Friday, August 21. You can find the draft schedule here: https://clasweb.jlab.org/rungroups/bonus/wiki/index.php/BONuSFest2015. Note that there is still one open slot for a talk on target and beamline integration. If anyone would like to make a presentation, I would be very grateful; otherwise, I’ll just use that time to give you the (little) information I have and remind ourselves of the issues we need to keep in mind.
2) There will be NO regular BONuS meeting THIS week Thursday (or anytime before the BONuSFest), unless someone organizes one.
3) There are still many outstanding votes for the Fall schedule of future regular BONuS meetings. If you haven’t done so already, PLEASE fill out the Doodle poll at http://doodle.com/sk53u2vmscyx24vc
See you next week - Sebastian
Dial-in instructions
We use the Bluejeans videoconferencing software.
1) For full multi-media access, enter in your web browser (*) the following URL: https://bluejeans.com/7576835804. You will be asked whether you want to login or just join as a participant. Choose "participant" and follow the on-screen instructions (you may be asked to download a browser extension or an app (*) when you use Bluejeans for the first time). You should see images from other participants and hear sound on your computer's loudspeakers. If you have a video camera (built-in or hooked up to your computer), others will be able to see you. You must have a microphone (built in or hooked up to your computer) to communicate. Ideally, you should use headphones (with integrated mike if possible) to reduce feedback; alternatively, you can mute your microphone when you are not talking. There is even an iPhone and Android app if you want to participate by tablet/smartphone… ;-). Note that you can of course mix and match - use your computer for video and your phone for verbal communication (see instructions below). You just have to make sure that you don't use more than one loudspeaker and more than one voice input device - there are controls on the Bluejeans screen that allow you to mute selected devices.
(*) Note: Some browsers, like, the Google CHROME browser, might no longer support Bluejeans. You can instead use Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari, or you can use the expected stand-alone App (for Windows and Mac) which should come out sometime in April. Or you can just use the phone - see below. More information
2) If this sounds all too complex, it is possible to dial in.
The phone nr. is 1-888-240-2560
The meeting ID is 7576835804 (Sebastian's ODU office phone nr). You enter this after the prompt, followed by the "#" sign, and after the 2nd prompt, press "#" again. That's it - you should be able to talk and hear us as usual; however, you won't see video and shared desktop.
However, we strongly recommend to connect via browser as well, at least to see any slides that might be "shared" via Bluejeans.
