Dear all,

in my instructions I failed to realize that the genius interface still has TWO steps to enter projected service work - one for CLAS (??? as if there is any valid service work left there) and one for CLAS12 (“STEP 3”). You will have to skip STEP2 (just click “Save and go to next step” without entering anything) and then fill out STEP 3. Again, click “Save and go to next step” and you should be done.

First, unless you are the IR (Institutional Rep for your institution), you should NOT change anything on the “STEP 1” table - just click “Save and go to the next step”. (IF your name does not appear in that table, ask your IR to fix that). Then you end up on “STEP2” - the actual interface where you can choose tasks (select BOTH “Category” from the pull-down menu AND enter something in “Description”, then pull down your name and the estimated FTE effort you expect to expend on this particular task. Once you’re done just click “Save and go to next step” - everything else is up to the IR.

To fill out the “Projected Service work for 2020” properly, you should open a separate tab in your browser, again go to the login window, and click the link “CLAS12 tasks”. You will see the “Task List” that people are highly encouraged to use for their future service work. I want to point out that we would very much like as many of you as possible to sign up for BONuS12-related service work (at least for any of your required 0.25 FTEs that you are not filling with your other obligations). Other than 3 weeks in January for RG B (which several of us are involved in, as well), BONuS12 is the only experiment next year.

There are several tasks labeled “BONUS” for which I am the contact; right now all of them are filled except 0.1 FTE worth of “RTPC/target expert”. Furthermore, if you scroll down, you find a bunch of RG-F - related tasks - for which I am also the contact (the easiest way to find them is to search for my name). RG-F of course encompasses BONuS12, additional data collected with BAND, and the new nDVCS experiment we got approved. These tasks are ideal to sign on if your name doesn’t already appear on the task list; however, you need to assess whether you are actually able to do them (even if they don’t list any “Expertise required”). WHENEVER YOU PICK ONE OF THESE TASKS, you MUST inform me via email (so I can update the task list). Then you can enter the information from the task list into the SoS sign-up interface. Note: Those of you who already appear under “Responsible” in the Task List do NOT have to change anything THERE, but you STILL will have to fill out the corresponding entries in the SoS interface for 2020 (populating that automatically would be WAY too convenient). If you want to change your assignment, let me know as well. I am the only one who can change the task list for BONUS.
