Dear BONuSites,

since many of you are not actually members of the CLAS collaboration, I am forwarding the following information from Eugene Pasyuk about training requirements. Most of the training is the same for any Hall, but in particular SAF111 (Hall B Safety Awareness) is required for everyone who works in the Hall. This includes not only shift takers, but also anyone who will be helping with setting up, commissioning, operating, monitoring and fixing of our RTPC and target system (so, really EVERY BONuS collaborator). Note that SAF111 requires access to Hall - Eugene Pasyuk will be offering the walk-through part during the CLAS collaboration meeting week after next. Please contact him directly to sign up.

Some courses you can complete remotely before you come to JLab. They can be accessed from the web based training page https://www.jlab.org/human_resources/training/webbasedtraining
SAF103 Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH) Training --- can be done remotely
Radiation training has several parts (in this order):
SAF801C Rad Worker I Initial Training ---- can be done remotely
SAF801kd General Access RWP --- can be done remotely
SAF801T Radiation Worker I Knowledge—Assessment ---- can be done on-site only at any time during working hours, no special arrangement is necessary. It is a computer test with multiple choice questions. It usually takes under 1 hour.
SAF801P Radiation Worker I Knowledge—Implementation --- can be done on-site only. It is not available every day and needs to be scheduled in advance with RadCon. Send email to: radcon_train at jlab.org When you contact them you may include me in CC:
Once you complete these you can get a dosimeter.
SAF111 Hall B Safety Awareness Training --- it includes on-line part and walkthrough. On-line part can be done remotely. Walkthrough can be done after you complete everything above and have your dosimeter. It only can be done when the hall is open.

The rest of this message is for those of you who ARE members of the CLAS collaboration:
As stated in Sylvia's email quoted below, we will have to fill out our annual service work brag sheets (a.k.a. SoS) - one for the past year, and one for the coming year. You can find instructions here:
https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?doc=sos_instructions
Keep in mind that whenever you sign in to any of the “shifts” interface - https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php - (which also deals with service work, reviews, etc.), you HAVE to log in (“Log in” hyperlink in the menu bar) and then navigate to “My service work” (button on the login page). You can access this link only from the login page, even if you have already logged in. After that, you have to first decide whether you want to fill out the “Service work performed in 2019” or “Projected Service work for 2020” (pull-down menu). You have to do BOTH.

Below are some more instructions for the 2nd part (“Projected service work for 2020”). First, unless you are the IR (Institutional Rep for your institution), you should NOT change anything on the “STEP 1” table - just click “Save and go to the next step”. (IF your name does not appear in that table, ask your IR to fix that). Then you end up on “STEP2” - the actual interface where you can choose tasks (select BOTH “Category” from the pull-down menu AND enter something in “Description”, then pull down your name and the estimated FTE effort you expect to expend on this particular task. Follow the guidance in the instructions (see above) and the Task List (see below) for FTEs and valid categories/tasks. (I have no idea what goes into “Documentation”.) Once you’re done just click “Save and go to next step” - everything else is up to the IR.

To fill out the “Projected Service work for 2020” properly, you should open a separate tab in your browser, again go to the login window, and click the link “CLAS12 tasks”. You will see the “Task List” that people are highly encouraged to use for their future service work. I want to point out that we would very much like as many of you as possible to sign up for BONuS12-related service work (at least for any of your required 0.25 FTEs that you are not filling with your other obligations). Other than 3 weeks in January for RG B (which several of us are involved in, as well), BONuS12 is the only experiment next year.

There are several tasks labeled “BONUS” for which I am the contact; right now all of them are filled except 0.1 FTE worth of “RTPC/target expert”. Furthermore, if you scroll down, you find a bunch of RG-F - related tasks - for which I am also the contact (the easiest way to find them is to search for my name). RG-F of course encompasses BONuS12, additional data collected with BAND, and the new nDVCS experiment we got approved. These tasks are ideal to sign on if your name doesn’t already appear on the task list; however, you need to assess whether you are actually able to do them (even if they don’t list any “Expertise required”). WHENEVER YOU PICK ONE OF THESE TASKS, you MUST inform me via email (so I can update the task list). Then you can enter the information from the task list into the SoS sign-up interface. Note: Those of you who already appear under “Responsible” in the Task List do NOT have to change anything THERE, but you STILL will have to fill out the corresponding entries in the SoS interface for 2020 (populating that automatically would be WAY too convenient). If you want to change your assignment, let me know as well. I am the only one who can change the task list for BONUS.

More generally, I would like to propose that as many of you as possible train to be RTPC/target “experts” in the sense that if you happen to be on shift (which will be nearly all of you) during BONuS12 running, you know enough so you won’t have to call the “real experts” for any small problem. We will announce training opportunities as we get closer to the run, but the main people “in charge” will be Mohammad and Jiwan.

Thanks! - Sebastian

> Institution Representatives, please remember that you have to submit TWO SoS's: one for the year 2019, detaling the SW your institution has done, and one with the projected SW for 2020.
>
> The CLAS12 Task List for 2020 is now online. It can be reached after logging in the web interface, from the main menu (CLAS12 tasks). Some of the tasks are already assigned, but there are about 40 tasks which need volounteers. Keep in mind that it is strongly recommended that a good fraction (ideally 50%) of the SW of your institution comes from CLAS12 Tasks from the List.
> The tasks range from hardware, software, simulation, detector-specific tasks, and require different levels of knowledge and expertise.
>
> ****NOTE THE CHANGE compared to last year: If you want to pick a task you must get in touch with the contact person listed on the Task List, she/he will decide whether or not you have the required skills and then will assign the task to you.****

> If you have any doubt or question, either on the SoS preparation and submission, or on the Task List, please get in touch with me - and please avoid doing it at the very last minute. :-)
