… BONuS12 has completed its long and arduous run. 🏃♀️ It surely has been a(nother) Marathon (pun intended) - probably among some of the longest 6-week runs ever (more than 7 months). We completed some last H2 and empty target runs by
this morning at 7 before the long SAD, and after that took 2 cosmic runs with 1.5 T and 0 T solenoid field. Now all HV is off, all gas flow stopped, and the CVT cart with the RTPC has been pulled back (to be craned to the Hall floor tomorrow). The target has
been opened to the Hall (after being purged with N2), the HV cables disconnected from the cart, and the FEUs LV powered down. We still have a bit of cleanup to do until the RTPC can be brought back into the EEL and safely stored, but the latter might take
several weeks (due to scheduling issues with the survey group and/or wait time until the activation is below concern). For now, it’s time to take a well-deserved victory lap (in particular for our much-overworked last RC, Mohammad), sip a glass of champagne
🥂 🍾 - and then get back to WORK! 😜

Before I get to this, 1000 thanks are in order for all of us who have made this experiment possible (from RTPC builders to RCs to analyzers), all the shift takers who volunteered throughout the whole Phase II of the run, and all the Hall B staff members who
gave us their unstinting support and helped us out - often in the middle of the night or weekend - to fix things and put us back on track. (A special shout-out for our PDL, Stepan!) Last not least, of course, thanks to the operators, PDs, and accelerator experts
who kept a leaking ship (=accelerator) from sinking, with duct tape and wire, and squeezed the last bit of beam out of it. I hope we will be able to have a proper “end-of-run” party sometime next year, as soon as MEDCON allows!

About the WORK part: While we all would like (and deserve) a 6-month vacation, it is crucial that we don’t lose speed with the calibration and analysis of RG-F. Now is the time when we remember best what the issues are, what the work is that needs to be done,
and when the “experts” are still around (at least most of them). For this reason, I would like to propose that we
a) Continue with our biweekly BONuS meetings on Thursdays 10:00 a.m. (I will schedule the next one of those for THIS Thursday, September 24, unless I hear otherwise)
b) Keep at least ONE of our daily 12:00 noon meetings alive (converting it back to a meeting exclusively focused on analysis and calibration). The proposal is to keep meeting every MONDAY at 12:00 noon for the foreseeable future. Please let me know if that
doesn’t work for you and propose an alternative time/day.
Onwards to the publication! - Sebastian
