B-team Meeting Agenda (2:00pm Wednesday MCC conf. room)
1 2009-11-04 Wed 14:00 Agenda
1.1 Beam status
Assessment after cathode activation and 6.067 GeV spin up
* PVDIS Beam Requirements
o Charge Asymmetry
o Position Asymmetry
o Compton Tune
o Phase advance
o Beam Matching/transport in the A-line
* Bonus Beam Requirements
o Any issues with Hall-B beam?
1.2 General Discussion
* Parity requirements achieved for Happex-III and PVDIS
* energy spread achieved for HKS, HKS completed with a large
fraction of the expected data.
* Bonus is fully commissioned
These accomplishments were difficult and have strained the staff. What
can we do better? Things I'd like to discuss include:
* B-team
o more involvement from Physics?
o less Wednesday meetings, more daily 8:15 meetings
o B-team content
o Goals for FY10? -- 12 GeV commissioning plan -- PREX parity
quality -- QWeak parity quality -- Information
transfer/cross training -- TWISS/? measurement and matching
routine -- raytrace data collection and analysis routine for
beam physicists
* 1:30 scheduling meetings
o Low attendance
o Little information transfer
* Beam Studies
o C50 commissioning has resulted in almost no beam studies
being performed.
o No more C50 commissioning during physics operation
o Double Wien commissioning during physics operation
(Spring10) looks to be just as disruptive. -- working with
Whitney to see if Homeland security run can be move to
July2010.
1.3 Optics-On-Call
* Outgoing Byunn Yung
* Incoming Yuhong Zhang
2 2009-10-28 Wed 14:00 Agenda--Notes
2.1 New BEM release Chris
Chris will describe the new BEM tool, including:
1. Bugs/issues with old BEM
2. New features, discussion of GOFF handling
* Summary of discussion
BTeam approved new tool. Chris will create an ATLIS and install
this week.
2.2 Beam Parity Quality during Happex-III Riad Happex
Brief (5-min) summary of the beam parity quality during Happex-III
* Summary of discussion ATTACH
As far as PQB, we met all of Happex-III's requirements. Same basic
PQB requirements for PVDIS. Requirements tighten considerably for
next year's PREx (and QWeak) Attached is Riad's short presentation.
2.3 Hall-A
Continue discussion of Hall-A parity setup. Review new match data with
raytrace data. Fast feedback issues. Feed forward to the upcoming 5-pass
PVDIS setup.
* Summary of discussion
Match calculated on Friday
<http://opsweb.acc.jlab.org/CSUEApps/elog/3-0/entry/1494245> was
loaded Saturday Owls. No harm done. Stability improved after match
loaded
<http://opsweb.acc.jlab.org/CSUEApps/elog/3-0/entry/1494280>. 20%
decrease in Compton counts and FFB working now. Not claiming that
these effects were because of match, but we can claim that the
effects occurred in spite of the match.
Michele has sent BTeam an email with twiss plots and elog entries
* Follow up
After the plots were fixed, the beam size is under control (less
than 200 ? m) in both the match and raw elegant displays.
2.4 Energy Change plan Yan
Energy change to 6.068 GeV scheduled for Monday? Note: Hall-A will want
as much current as the target cooling can handle. LEM should be
performed with 700 ? A linac currents.
2.5 Beam Studies coincident with Gun Bake
* Bake date? To be determined.
* Gun bake and recessiate SOURCE
* MO ? f for 12 GeV Tief
2.6 Injector Changes
The two wien modification is scheduled for the Winter2010 down. Part of
the change includes the following decisions:
1. Remove the 60Hz suppression correctors. These correctors were no
longer connected to a source/controller.
2. Use the 500 keV harp controls to drive the *new* harp at the 2nd
Wien girder. The 500 keV harp has not provided the information we
wanted at the 500 keV region due to unknown magnetic elements
between the solenoid and harp.
2.7 Optics-on-Call Summary
* Adminstration
Outgoing
Yves Roblin
Incoming
Byung Yunn
* Machine Status
o Two power outages in one week
Presently, ( 2009-10-27 Tue 07:37) we are recovering from
the second inside the fence power outage in two weeks. How
this will impact the schedule is still to be determined.
* Scheduled program
Somewhat tentative due to ongoing recovery from power outage.
Still awaiting official word on date for energy change from 5.7
GeV to 6.07 GeV.
o ESR T1 turbine swap Thursday ( 2009-10-29 Thu)
o ESR QWeak heat exchanger tests Fri-Sat ([2009-10-30 Fri]--
2009-10-31 Sat)
o Hall-B pass change from 1-pass to 5-pass.
o Energy change to 6.068 GeV on Monday ( 2009-11-02 Mon)
o Gun bake/activation on Monday Swing and Owl ( 2009-11-02
Mon-- 2009-11-03 Tue)
o MO ? f coincident with gun bake
o Hall-A PVDIS experiment start Tuesday ( 2009-11-03 Tue)
o As beam current ramps up to near 100 ? A, the FEL will have
to been turned off to stay within the CHL capacity.
