No, CW should not hurt it, BNL had ~10mA CW on a similar one and it showed just a darker spot.

I come to the conversation late so might be missing the point...
Brian we are going to use YAG viewers in CW mode as current meters for HDIce tests, if you are interested in participating, you are welcome to join. THis should happen very soon, maybe this week...?

Brian,
It has fallen off the list. In any event, a tune beam study will not
provide a useful comparison on the likelihood of darkening over the next
decade of CEBAF vs Chromox or YAG. As I mentioned earlier, it has been
proposed to reclassify it as a CW viewer and use CW on it at the end of
the run. With Hall C at first pass, the only option would be ~1 uA to
Hall D tagger dump. Not a real life test, but better than tune.
