Not good. fopt to A https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370102 Fopt results from /usr/ntfs/public/optics/diforb/25may060243 qsUtility data was taken with 1C05 but application failed to read data https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370128 Randy was here all night working with Dillon on empirical matching with 1C07 and 1C08 quads. When I got in I suggested trying 1C19 and 1C20. Increasing and decreasing these by 50% made things worse. I created templates for IHA1P02 with full range of MQR1C20, copying the existing pass 2 file. The X data is acceptable with about five points that will have to be discarded given span. Data will have to be reanalyzed back propagated to 1C04 but it looks good. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370195 The y wire range in the file I coped was not good. Dillon has determined correct values. Ops will copy my files and edit them. I'll correct y wire later. Once data is available for both wires and back-propagated upstream of 1C04 the match will be calculated and if it looks reasonable, downloaded. Harp scans in A will tell the tale. If beam is close at 1H04A and 1H04B, touch up with 1C19 and 1C20, perhaps using the 1H04 OTR. If this process did not converge for Hall A the outlook is depressing. IHAAE01 https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370153 is still tolerable so I wouldn't match there or upstream, others may differ. AT match was done with fifth pass to Hall B. Hall B quads are on design. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370196 shows values. Hall C moderate manual changes to 3C06, 3C07 and 3C20 brought into spec. As stated above, manual changes to A have not worked. If Hall A is the highest Physics priority, someone competent (not me) could edit the AT line match file to take the data with 1C05. The Lambertson focusing terms are not in the elegant deck. This process may get the optics in A close enough for manual touch-up. It will require substantial changes to B and C optics because of Lambertson focusing in A beam path. (ascend soap box) Yves and I have been trying for three years to get the resources to pull un-used quads from the A and C lines, build double-quad girders to replace *C04 and *C05, and install the new girders as these would have adequate strength for qsUtility data collection on fifth pass. https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-272394/23-022.pdf (descend soap box) From benesch at jlab.org Tue May 6 10:01:47 2025 From: benesch at jlab.org (Jay Benesch) Date: Tue, 6 May 2025 10:01:47 -0400 Subject: [BTeam] Hall A status update In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Yves arrived. He pointed out that back-propagation from 1P02 to 1C04 would be inaccurate due to the synchrotron radiation in the Hall A arc. I did not consider this. He recommended using IHA3C07A which has enough lever arm to use the existing 3C04 and 3C05 quads. First pass template is being edited and data acquisition will soon begin. Interestingly, the match using the 1P02 data converged and the K1 values seem reasonable but no quad values were produced. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4370272 From roblin at jlab.org Tue May 6 10:54:08 2025 From: roblin at jlab.org (Yves Roblin) Date: Tue, 6 May 2025 14:54:08 +0000 Subject: [BTeam] NO BTEAM TODAY Message-ID: We are setting up the machine and we have no urgent topics to discuss. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
