[Casa] LDRD - "selected highlights"

Hi everyone,

It’s Friday evening, but I thought I’d share a few highlights from the LDRD talk that just ended. Later, the slides will be on the LDRD website, but for now, here’s my main takeaways:


  1.  All LDRDs will be 2 years moving forward. No third year option. So plan on 2 years of work.
     *   Those of us in our 1st year of a plan right now do not need to do a pre-proposal, but our full proposal will be a 2 year proposal.
  2.  Postdocs will have 2 years of guaranteed coverage from LDRDs.
     *   This includes if they are hired up to 4 months late.

                                                               i.      So if you get a postdoc in January, they’ll have LDRD funds for 2 full years starting January, not on the FY start.

     *   They’ll be allowing us to post position PRIOR to the start of the fiscal year, so we can start recruiting earlier.
     *   They are working with HR to speed up the recruiting process.
