Hello!
JLab has been making a difference for student during the pandemic by supporting them with remote STEM projects!
Please consider select some of the best students from across the country, to work with you and/or your groups this SUMMER through the DOE SULI (Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship) and the Community College Internship (CCI) Programs!
First, some quick facts:
— ALL PROJECT WILL BE COMPLETED REMOTELY FOR THE 2022 SUMMER TERM COHORT (We hope this will the last time!)
— the students will be with JLab for 10 weeks, *May 31 - August 5, 2022*
— these students are of NO cost to you, SULI & CCI are funded by the Office of Science
— each student is required to write a research or technical paper based on his or her work during the 10 weeks
— each student is required to prepare a poster based on his or her work during the 10 weeks
— we will conduct an orientation session during which students will receive their appropriate safety, security, and computer training
— JLab has funding to host *23 students* this SUMMER (7 have been placed!)
On March 4th, we will also have access to additional applicants in which students did not specify JLab as their first choice -- up to another 30+ students. Do let me know if you would like to be on the list to receive these apps when they become available.
The students' applications are attached here. The files are sorted by the students’ majors - each file name has the major (PHYS, ENG, MATH, ARCH etc.) followed by the students’ last names. HOWEVER, DO NOTICE THAT MANY HAVE MINORS (i.e. Physics/Math) AND/OR ADDITIONAL SKILL SETS LIKE COMPUTING, HTML, MATLAB etc...
A list of students with their majors and interests are below to help you determine which applications to open!
Please email me as soon as you’ve made your selections*:*
1) Do you have a *project* in mind? If so, include a *title and a brief description*.
2) Which of the students would both benefit from this project and be helpful to you and JLab? Please list the students in order of preference. I promise to be as fair as possible when assigning students - I try to have an even distribution among the halls and the accelerator.
3) How many students would you like to have?
Feel free to forward this email around your group!
Thanks so much for reviewing the applications - this really is a wonderful opportunity for both the students and the Lab.
