Hi folks,
Just a quick reminder, any work you do packing up your office and
going through things goes on PLANNG on your timecard.
I suggest the following plan:
- Computers and phones: Leave in place until we are near the
move. These we will pack into the moving bins provided by
facilities, and they will move those bins for us to our new
location.
- Personal: Take home everything that you can, using boxes that
you provide. Make a pile or box of things that you would want
to potentially move to a new office location and label it as
such.
- Archive: Make a box that contains physical research materials
(e.g. logbooks, handwritten notes, etc) that are not needed
on a daily basis, and label it. Do NOT toss old logbooks or
written notes.
- Excess: Excess equipment (e.g. old or outdated computer
equipment) should go into the office across from Andrew's.
(Not Andrew's office.) If it has a bar code, make sure to
indicate in your property records that it is being excessed.
- Trash and recycle: Make separate piles/boxes to put in the
relevant bins when they are available. Label the piles/boxes.
Recycle any paper printouts of things that are online (e.g.
JACoW tech notes, published papers, etc).
- Library books: Bring them to my office. I'm making a stack
to discuss with archives.
- Other books: Toss them (old computer manuals) or bring them
to my office for evaluation about whether to keep or toss.
- Office supplies: Put them in a separate box or pile; I have
a big pile of pads of paper and empty folders on my desk that
I have created while packing/cleaning.
Tristan and I can help make facilities requests for more trash and
recycle bins; just ask us when you do so we can coordinate how many
are needed.
Thanks for hanging in there -- please reach out to me and Tristan
if you have any questions or concerns!
-Todd
