I would also echo Heidi’s suggestion to charge participants and have part of the fee go towards accessibility (e.g. captioning, which then also goes into better notes for each of the talks). ICHEP did a really good job with captioning, but as far as I understand they had sponsoring to cover that. Virtual conferences have the advantage of being more “physically” accessible so we can work towards allowing everyone who wants to join remotely with different needs.
