[Clas12_rgh] [EXTERNAL] RGH jeopardy document

Hi all,

I have a question on how the asymmetry in eqn(4) was computed. The kinematics for transverse target is more complicated than for the longitudinal target, as it involved two phi angles, see attached graph. The rate involves the cos(phi) and the sin(phi - phis), where phis is the azimuthal angle of the polarization vector to the production plane.
This will make measurements at phi-phis = 0 /180 deg. insensitive to the polarization while for phi- phis = 90/270 it will be fully sensitive.

Because of the different acceptance for of the RGH experiment in the electron scattering plane compared to the hadronic plane and the modulation with the phis we should have a detailed simulation that takes into account all the kinematic/acceptance factors to come to a well-motivated decision.

For the jeopardy proposal for each kinematics (xB, t, in case of DVCS) we should compute the sin(phi) moment and plot this value versus delta(phi) = phi-phis, and its moment. This would allow us to do a more detailed evaluation of what the most effective direction of the target polarization, in terms of the FOM for the 3 experimental programs is.

Maybe there are other/better ways of doing this...

Volker

Subject: [Clas12_rgh] [EXTERNAL] RGH jeopardy document

Dear all,
the RGH jeopardy document has been submitted to
the CLAS Collaboration. The draft is attached
and available at:

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.overleaf.com_read_hsmmsyrcbrbm-23a78ab6&d=DwIBAg&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=QWa4FYrGl2z7tyOHBIYcegdYaNKy_NApZOlUL0J3DAI&m=3Wv_BfCG1qDfhXCd55T4Nc6rNIvAohLWHlEiBVKp1olceZuKBFZbNlKtEghh8AWe&s=5A7-sb9KScXZHeTr-6vyYpCbdBdkyZ8FO-drERtn6_U&e=

Thank you to everybody for the contributions
and constructive discussions.

Following yesterday's meeting, please note:

- the paragraph at the end of Section.2 that
describes new results in literature from last
jeopardy;
- the chicane description in 3.3;
- the updated Table.1;
- the new recoil detection section 4.2;
- the updated luminosity discussion in 4.3;
- the SIDIS and DVCS initial discussion in
section 5.1 and 5.2, respectively.

We will continue refining the document till
the jeopardy deadline (May 1st).

Best regards, Marco.
