[clas12_rgk] [EXTERNAL] URGENT: beam energy for the next RG-K run

Folks,

I support Volker’s suggestions on the two beam energies and the even split of days at each.
I also support running with the FT-Off configuration as I do not think that we will have any
updated analysis results to tell us anything more than we already know. Also the experiment
running before RG-K will be in the FT-Off configuration and this will be most efficienct to
stay in this configuration.

The other point of consideration is what beam energies we will accept. To be most flexible
in getting scheduled, we should be prepared with a statement on what we would accept for
running. I would not be so specific, but I do not want different settings all around our request
as this really complicates data analysis.

We also want to be sure to request that the electron beam is longitudinally polarized with
P>80%.

Running with the FT-On can be saved for the next part of our beam time after next year.

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Annalisa,

Stepan needs the information by tomorrow's senior staff meeting.
Let's discuss this by email.

To get the discussion going, I suggest to

  * split the beam time between 6.6 and 8.8 GeV
  * we should ask for 50 days 25/25
  *   keep the outbending configuration
  * run with the FT-OFF configuration for high luminosity

Discussion should consider

  1. importance of FT for DVCS (at lower luminosity)
  2. Is the FTcal useful for low Q^2 spectroscopy of K-Lambda/Sigma and 2-pion production.
  3. others

Volker

Dear Annalisa,

Can this be done via email and get answers by Tuesday?

Thanks, Stepan

Dear Stepan,
I will put this item as the main one in next RG-K meeting agenda on Wednesday. Would it be timely enough to answer before the end of the week?

Dear Annalisa,

Another thing I want to know if RG-K will run with FT-ON or OFF or FT removed.

Thanks, Stepan

Dear Annalisa,

We are planning for t next cycle of runs. There will be opportunity to run RG-K again. I will need to know, ASAP, what beam energy you want to run, 4 pass (~8.5 GeV) or 3-pass (6.4 GeV)?
Thanks, Stepan
