As I told you last week, RG-B has been approved for pass-1 with swapped
Micromegas cables (75% sure). If it is confirmed, they will have to re-run
reconstruction to correct for that if they want to publish DVCS on proton.
Since same review was performed for rg-A, there is no guarantee that we do
not have such issues. Moreover, at no moment, the RG-A review was
performed assuming DVCS would be published with this pass-1
reconstruction.

I asked to look at MVT residuals to check if there are any swapped cables
for rg-A analysis note (and I contacted rg-b for cross-check) but official
central tracking does not produce this residuals in the current version of
the tracking. (So I am still waiting for confirmation for RG-B)

I do not think corrections of possible swapped cables in micromegas are
unnecessary improvements to central tracking. I am not advocating for the
best central tracking. But having swapped cables is definitely not
acceptable. Recoil proton momentum is not only about kinematics but, as
you said, you need to perform some cuts on variables requiring proton
momentum to ensure exclusivity. And it is really on this last point I am
concerned. You know too well that pi0 contamination can be sizable in bins
where DVCS is weak. So we must be careful to not dilute the asymetry with
poor exclusivity cuts.

Having extensively studied CVT reconstruction, I can assure you that
proton momentum can already be significantly mis-reconstructed under
reasonable beam condition without swapped Micromegas cables. So if we can
make sure we do not have swapped cables, then let's do it. Last but not
least, if a tracking code is not able to tell you that cables has been
swapped, then it tells you that its current accuracy/resolution might not
be great. Would it be enough with no swapped cable, It is an open question
and I haven't seen a solid study demonstrating that. It is true that I
personnally decided to dedicate time to fix central tracking than try to
carefully check if it is good enough.

We may want to see this as an opportunity to perform careful checks of
silly mistakes prior cooking everything.

Kind regards,

Maxime
