Dear All,

Please find the slides in the attachment.

Starting with slide 12, we wanted to evaluate the FTCAL cuts as
set up on the DVCS wagon and possibly refine it.

1) Check the quality of FTCAL photons per crystal (slide 13:
FTCAL hits binned following the detector's crystal component with
(left) coordinates given in REC::ForwardTagger bank and (right)
arbitrary discreet coordinates adopted to tag each crystal).

2) Check DVCS exclusivity variables for each crystal (slide 14:
example from crystal bin (4,12)):

a) #Delta#theta_cone(#gamma): angle between the momenta of
the reconstructed/detected photon and of the photon calculated
from proton and electron momenta; the fit is a "half Gaussian"
with the peak/mean fixed at the highest point of the histogram;
this may not be the best distribution but should be good enough
for the purpose of comparison.

b) M_X_(ep->e'#gamma'): missing proton mass; Gaussian fit.

c) p_#rho_X_(ep->e'p'#gamma): missing transverse momentum;
"half Gaussian" fit with the peak/mean fixed at the highest point
of the distribution.

d) E_X_(ep->e'p'#gamma): missing energy;Gaussian fit.

3) Evaluate the crystals by comparing the mean and sigma of the
fits of their corresponding exclusivity variables (slide 15:
example from the strip at x = 7, note the outliers at y = 15, see
slide 16, and y = 7, see slide 17).

4) Consider applying more fiducial cuts (as described in slides
18 and 19).

5) Check the effect of the additional fiducial cuts on the
outliers (slide 20: example from the strip at x = 7, note that the
cuts got rid of the outlier at y = 2, but not at y = 15 (see slide
21)).

6) Summary:

a) The default cut of the DVCS Wagon allowed poorly
reconstructed events from the hot spots.

b) The implementation of additional cuts (basically little
expansions of the default ones) got rid of poorly reconstructed
events or, in some cases, whole crystal channels associated with
these events.

c) The only set of poorly reconstructed events observed that
passed the additional cuts are those from (7, 15) which can be
explicitly excluded.

I would appreciate your response for discussions.

Best regards,

Josh

Dear All,

this is a reminder of tomorrow RG-K meeting at 11:45 am Jlab

would ask Volker to chair the meeting.
