Minutes for the Thursday (6/2) meeting to discuss and prepare for the
SIDIS part of 3d structure with JLab 20+GeV workshop
Participants:
Harut Avakian, Jian-ping Chen, Dave Gaskell, Vlad Khachatryan, Jianwei
Qiu, Patrizia Rossi, Nobuo Sato, Zhihong Ye, Zhiwen Zhao,
Tim Howard(?)
A) Nobuo made a presentation on progress:
1) Issue of rho meson contamination to SIDIS pion:
Using Harut's simulated results, rho+ contamination in SIDIS pi+
are mainly at low z and positive x_F. Not significant after SIDSI
current fragmentation cut. Also from theory point of view, rho should
be included. Harut argued that for diffractive rho, it should not be
included.
2) High PT pion production to improve Delta_G. Showed a simple
estimation with error bars for 100, 1000, and 10,000 fb^{-1}. 10,000
fb^{-1} would have significant improvement over existing precision.
Jian-ping commented on the practicality of the integrated luminosity
1000 fb^{-1} for polarized proton is still feasible, but need to
consider dilution. Harut commented on the binning choice.
Nobuo will work with Harut to get a realistic projection.
B) Jianwei showed work on high PT inclusive pion to study gluon
polarization. In the comparison to the preliminary data from Hall A
Marathon experiment, the cross section trend similar, but significantly
lower (a factor of several?). Need to check normalization. Jianwei Will
work with Zhihong/Jian-ping on this.
Also will compare with SLAC data (20 GeV and 50 GeV).
Jian-ping commented that there are also double longitudinal spin and
single spin asymmetry data can be compared. SLAC 50 GeV has only double
spin asymmetry data, no cross sections. May also be good to compare with
Afanasev/Carlson model predictions.
C) Patrizia commented that we need to converge on the workshop program.
Also suggested to have two half-day to accommodate people from different
time zone, which were accepted by other three co-organizers.
We ran out time to cover other items in the meeting agenda. Will
continue next meeting.
Next meeting was supposed to be on 6/9, however, there is a discussion
to have the joint GPD-SIDIS organizing committee meeting at that time.
It probably will be delayed to 6/16.
