minutes on Thursday (4/28) meeting to discuss and prepare for the SIDIS
part of 3d structure with JLab 20+GeV workshop
Participants:
Organizers: Harut Avakian, Jian-ping Chen, Jianwei Qiu
Theory group: Nobuo Sato
SoLID group: Vladimir Khachatryan, Zhihong Ye, Zhiwen Zhao
CLAS12 group: Sebouh Paul, Arratia Munoz Miguel, Richard Capobianco
A) JP: There will be several 1-day workshop on physics with JLab20+GeV.
3d structure workshop is scheduled on 7/7/2022, half day for GPD and
half day for SIDIS/TMD.
For SIDIS/TMD, goals are to identify
1) flagship measurements that can only (or almost only) be done with 20+
GeV;
2) flagship measurements that 20+ GeV will significantly expand the
reach in multi-dimension;
3) measurements set the bridge and complementary to EIC;
4) people who can and will do simulations to produce projections before
the workshop or before the long-rang-plan town meeting.
Will first have inputs from theory group on 1-3. Then discuss 4.
B) Jianwei: Jianwei, Nobuo and Alexei Prokudin will participate in this
activities. introduced the recent progress from theory group.
C) Nobuo: suggested three topics
1) Delta_G with large q_T SIDIS
JP asked how large, answer: need q_T/Q ~ 1
(Harut will follow up and work with Nobuo to simulate this.)
Jianwei mentioned that inclusive pion at large P_T can also access
Delta_G. JP and SoLID group will follow up with Jianwei on this.
2) With recent W anomaly, flavor dependence of TMDs are important.
JP comment: u, d can already be measured with 11 GeV. 20+ may help with
sea (strangeness and u_bar, d_bar) with Kaon.
SoLID group will follow up with Nobuo on this.
3) twist-3, g_T. SoLID group (if time allows) will follow up with Nobuo
on this as well.
D) Sebouh suggested D meson.
JP comment: for SIDIS-D, there was a study many years ago on SIDIS-D at
EIC, it was very demanding in luminosity and energy. 20+ GeV not promising.
For threshold production, there is another workshop on charm. will
discuss this (related to proton mass). The Argonne group is doing a study.
E) Harut: there are other channels, some studies already done. Should
start with discussion on event generators and simulations.
Suggested next week to focus on discussing event generators.
F) JP: Also mentioned several people can not attend due to schedule
conflicts. Peter Bosted suggested unpolarized SIDIS to large PT is
important.
Suggested to have bi-weekly meeting to summarize progress.
But agreed with Harut to meet next week to discuss event generators and
simulations.
