Hi Dennis,

After consulting with various run groups, including e1-dvcs, eg1-dvcs
and eg6 groups
that currently in process of data taking and calibration, we came to a
conclusion
that transition from cvs to svn for CLAS6 software is unreasonable at
this time.
There is no manpower in these groups to support this transition and it
will slow down
significantly processing and calibration of data, and in the end will
delay physics outcome.

In general, I think closing cvs is much bigger issue to be decided in
offline group.
It should be discussed in the collaboration (may be on the next
collaboration meeting).
There are groups that are aiming to re-analyze/re-cook existing CLAS
data to extract
additional interesting physics and the access and maintainability of
software packages,
used for calibration and processing of these data are crucial. By itself
it is already a
difficult task and adding another, unnecessary layer of difficulty will
make it almost impossible.
The more reasonable thing to do is leave the CLAS-6 software on cvs.
Most of the
collaborators are well familiar with cvs/Makefile system, system worked
for more than
10 years and there is no reason for reaming 2.5 years of 6 GeV running
make drastic
changes.

Regards, Stepan
