Dear CLAS12 Software Contributors,

I like to thank all of you who worked hard to contribute to the
development of the CLAS12 software, and the preparation of the IT
software review last Thursday and Friday. Although the final report is
not yet available, we can say that it was a very positiv review. The
committee acknowledged that the software is on track for online
calibration and physics analysis when beam is available. The CLARA
framework was recognized as "innovative" and the development of GEMC
using Geant4 received praise. Also our use of legacy software for
calibration and commissioning and the long range planning was very much
appreciated.

Most importantly, the committee recommended to carry out scale tests of
the CLAS12 software this fall (2012), and do full stress tests in
January 2014 with resources to be provided by the Lattice QCD computing
facility at JLab. This is a tremendously important recommendation and we
need to work diligently towards achieving these milestones. A detailed
plan on how to meet these milestones was presented in the talk by Dennis
Weygand. It also shows that much work is still ahead of us.

The past 3 months have been a rewarding time for all of us. In the short
time of only 3 months we pulled together the software work of the past 6
years, new developments were implemented, and the work of many people
was put together in an appealing fashion. All of this material can be
found on the software review web page:

Best regards,
Volker Burkert
