Hello CLAS12 software developers,
Everything I could possibly say about git and GitHub is addressed in
GitHub's Help pages here:

Also, there are many "cheat sheets" for using git. GitHub has one even:

Personally, I can work with either git or svn, but my preference between
the two is git. I would like all the developers make up their own mind on
this matter. You can search for "git vs svn" but you may not ever find a
truly unbiased comparison or review.
