Hi,
When we started developing the geometry package, we did so with consulting
people who were potential users and came to some scheme that was useful
across all platforms, we discussed methods that need to be included for reconstruction
to work and for CED to work and have consistency between them.
The new version was developed without any coordination and that’s why we end up
in a situation where we have to do extra work trying to fit things into existing model.
If developing something new creates more work for software team, it’s not really
helpful.

The problem with such hacks is they tend to be forgotten and linger in the background like a time bomb.
